We are Heart-Shaped Box Movers, a women’s moving company based in Richmond, VA.

We provide efficient professional services backed by years of experience. We are striving to create an uplifting and supportive work environment for clients and employees by showcasing the strength, power, and skills of women. We are an inclusive and open minded crew!

Many of us come from the film industry and have worked as set dressers for years. On film sets we move furniture, pack and unpack, drive trucks, assemble, mount and decorate. Working in the film industry means moving high end furniture and valuable assets that have to look picture perfect. We definitely know how to handle goods with care in a fast paced environment.

We also understand the necessity for an all-women’s moving company for those who may be hesitant to have strangers in their homes. We want to create a company that makes employees and clients feel safe, respected and listened to. We want to focus on nurturing a transparent, positive and validating work environment, bringing women together for the greater purpose of our common sanity.

The film industry has taken a toll these last few years between covid and the strikes and we realized our skills are valuable in other ways. We thought, “What if we start our own moving company? We already know how to do it!” We already lift, move, build and operate heavy machinery with care under tight deadlines.
